Many people with rosacea, broken capillaries, and skin redness after procedures can find improvement with intense pulsed light, or IPL Photofacial treatment. IPL treatment employs light energy that gently heats the targeted skin areas and stimulates the body’s own natural healing process to seal the small vessels involved at the surface of the skin. As the skin heals, the treated areas show a reduction of red vessels and redness. This procedure can be used to improve the redness associated with Rosacea but it does not cure the Rosacea.
During the procedure, the light energy penetrates deep below the skin’s surface to promote the production of new collagen. The treatment will enhance the skin’s appearance by rejuvenating and smoothing the skin in addition to improving redness, hence the alternate term, IPL photofacial.
Each treatment lasts about 20 minutes, and most patients require about 2-3 treatments, scheduled about three to four weeks apart, to see maximum results.
