As we mature, we lose volume in our cheek in the form of fat, muscle, skin, and bone. When we lose volume over the cheeks, the skin and associated tissue drops inward towards the mouth creating a deeper nasolabial fold and deep marionette line and causes the corner of the mouth to droop.
Adding volume to our cheek, or midface, allows the cheek area to ‘re-inflate’ and corrects the sagging skin around the jaw line, cheeks, nasolabial fold, and mouth. Our cheek lift is also part of our nonsurgical facelift but can be individualized if not correcting the volume loss in the entire face.

We use blunt cannulas to inject the volumizers or fillers which decrease bruising and swelling by 90-95%. Blunt cannulas can be thought of as blunt needles instead of sharp needles. Few practitioners use a blunt cannula because of training and experience reasons but also because of the cost of blunt cannulas.
Radiesse® , Voluma, Restylane Lyft, and Sculptra® are not just wrinkle fillers; they are also global facial volumizers and great for cheeklifts. They provide more volume than other fillers such as Restylane®, Juvederm® Ultra, Belotero, or Juvederm® Ultra Plus and last longer than these fillers.
Using these products, we can restore youthful cheek contours by filling under the skin so that it inflates or “lifts” the cheek tissues. As with all other injections there can be temporary swelling, redness, and bruising, though the use of blunt cannulas decreases your risk. You will be provided with an ice pack after your treatment to use the remainder of the day. You may use your makeup and sunscreen immediately after treatment.
