Dr. Mike Majmundar, double board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, performs cheek implants for the residents of Atlanta, Sandy Springs and the surrounding communities in Georgia.
The bone structure of your cheeks adds natural contours and highlights to your face that make you more attractive. Having flat cheeks affects the proportions of your face, and can make your other features appear larger or smaller. Cheek implants give your cheeks more definition, and add balance to your face.
Making the Decision for Cheek Implants
Your cheeks add significant definition to your face. When you are considering cheek implants, you should choose a qualified, experienced facial plastic surgeon. Dr. Majmundar is double board certified in otolaryngology – head neck surgery, as well as facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. His experience and education mean that he provides you with the highest quality care. During your consultation appointment, Dr. Majmundar examines your face and cheek area to determine the best treatment plan. He also discusses the outcomes of the procedure so that you have realistic expectations of your cheek implants. We perform all of our surgeries in accredited outpatient surgery centers, and we only use board certified MD anesthesiologists for your safety.
Understanding the Surgery
Dr. Majmundar determines the best position for your cheek implants during your consultation appointment. In most cases, cheek implants are inserted through incisions inside the mouth.
If you are undergoing other facial procedures that require incisions, Dr. Majmundar may use incisions along your hairline, or along your lower eyelid. Dr. Majmundar creates a pocket in your cheek where the cheek implants are inserted. The cheek implant may be secured to bone or soft tissue. After the cheek implant is properly positioned, Dr. Majmundar closes the incisions with sutures.
What to Expect After the Surgery
You see the results of your cheek implants immediately after your procedure. Cheek implants add volume to your cheek area, so you may feel a tightening sensation as you become accustomed to the cheek implants. You can resume your normal activities immediately after your procedure. Your lips may feel numb, so you should exercise caution when eating and drinking, and you may have difficulty speaking. You should maintain a soft diet for three days after your procedure for cheek implants. The numbness should resolve within 24 hours. If you have sutures in your mouth, you need to rinse your mouth after eating to keep the area clean. You may have mild tenderness and swelling that should improve within three months. Elevating your head helps with the swelling. During the healing period, you may have limited sensation in your cheeks. Because the implants can shift, you should avoid all contact sports until you are fully healed.
