Providing Contour and Definition to Your Arms
If you have sagging and unsightly skin on the upper arms because of weight loss, genetics, or aging, then you may be a candidate for brachioplasty, which is commonly known as upper arm lift surgery. Brachioplasty is a procedure that reduces or eliminates excess skin from the upper arms.
While exercise can improve and strengthen muscle tone in your upper arms, it can’t address excess skin that has lost elasticity. If you are generally in good health and not significantly overweight, then arm lift surgery can restore a healthier, youthful appearance.
What to Expect with Your Arm Lift
Our arm lift procedures are performed on an outpatient basis using general anesthesia. Most arm lift surgeries are completed in one-and-a-half to two to three hours, depending on the amount of excess skin and not including other procedures, as in a mommy makeover. The procedure involves removing excess skin along an incision, which ideally falls along the line of blouse seam. The length and pattern of the incision are determined by how much skin will be removed.
If necessary, liposuction will be used to remove excess fat. Your skin will then be draped over the new contours and excess skin will be removed. After your arm lift, your incisions will be loosely wrapped in elastic bandages to minimize swelling. More than likely, you will be required to wear a compressive sleeve or bandage for the first few weeks following surgery.
Nonsurgical Arm Lift with BodyTite
BodyTite by InMode is a cutting-edge device that provides similar results as an arm lift without incisions, surgeries, or extended recovery periods. It facilitates a minimally invasive arm lift with radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (RFAL). The procedure is performed as an outpatient procedure that concludes within 30 minutes and involves a downtime of up to 2 days, making it the perfect weekend procedure for those who can’t take weeks off work.
How does BodyTite work?
BodyTite consists of two probes. The surgeon slides one probe under the skin of the arms, and the other probe rests above the skin. The probes are pinched together, and the device is activated to generate radiofrequency energy, melting the unwanted fat tissues. Once the subcutaneous fat cells are liquefied, they’re vacuumed out of your body via a small tube-like device called a cannula. The radiofrequency energy also stimulates collagen production in the deeper dermal layers, giving you a firm and sculpted arm.
How soon do you recover from BodyTite?
You experience swelling, redness, and bruising after the procedure, for which you’ll need to take pain medications. You’ll also have to wear compression garments on your arms for several weeks to minimize swelling and facilitate healing. While the complete recovery process might take several weeks, you can resume your daily activities and work within 2 days. The fat reduction results are immediately visible, but the skin tightening results appear gradually over several weeks as your body produces new collagen fibers.
