The Natural Facelift: It’s Not Just for Women Anymore
The advantages of looking vital, youthful, and energetic are clear in a man’s life. Everyone with whom we seek to ally, team-up and collaborate – from employers and business partners to romantic and life partners – is evaluating us consciously or unconsciously. And a major element in what magnetizes us in those ongoing evaluations is our appearance.
Still, men have come to plastic surgery as a useful tool in achieving or enhancing these advantages later than women.
Why Men Caught on Later
In earlier centuries, men were either born into advantages or else engaged in work that didn’t depend on appearance to achieve them. This heritage of acting as if appearance was unimportant stayed with us long after it stopped being true.
In fact, part of what stuck with us was the idea that not seeming to care about appearance was part of being manly. It’s interesting that occasionally – in some cultures at some points in history – caring about appearance was actually considered essential to manliness. So, the lessons were there somewhere.
But in the West – and particularly in America – the demands of physical labor or personal combat eclipsed the demands of working smoothly in a social or intellectual workplace. “Rough and ready” was a big dimension of what men expected of each other.
Times changed and eventually our priorities caught up with the times.
Strengthening the Jaw Line
Though many men can benefit from a variety of plastic surgery techniques – reducing droop in the eyelids is a popular example – most natural facelifts focus on improving the line of the jaw. The angle of the jaw below the ear, the chin contour and the line in between them is a key signal of fitness and energy in a man, and the combination of aging tissues and gravity tend to change and soften that line over time.
Fortunately, this is one of the most receptive areas for improvement in a man’s appearance, if the right techniques are used.
What Makes It a “Men’s” Natural Facelift?
The key to our approach to a natural men’s facelift is that we don’t depend on pulling the skin tight to achieve the results. Tight, drawn skin is the No. 1 giveaway that someone has “had work done.” So, we don’t do it.
Our approach tightens the tissues under the skin. Then we carefully re-drape the skin over those tightened tissues.
Depending on each man’s unique situation and goals, excess skin is sometimes removed. Sutures are made even more invisible because the skin is not tight as they heal. In some cases, liposuction is used locally to remove permanently any excess fat cells that would interfere with the results.
Steps like these further enable us to achieve a youthful jaw line without relying on telltale tightening of the skin.
If the advantages of returning to a more alert, fit, youthful appearance are on your mind, there’s no reason to hesitate anymore. Let’s sit down for an easy conversation about your goals and the new possibilities presented by our natural male facelift.
