One of the hottest fashion trends today is long, luxurious eyelashes that make the eyes “pop”. Unfortunately, due to genetics, or the aging process in general, Mother Nature hasn’t seen fit to keep up with the trend for many women!
Latisse is a product that has helped thousands of women grow their own lashes longer and thicker. By far, the most common question I receive is “does it really work?” The answer is a resounding yes!
There are many products on the market that tout longer eyelashes. Most of these are merely lash conditioners. Only Latisse actually creates longer, darker, and coarser natural eyelashes in as little as eight (8) weeks. We recommend using the product on the upper eyelashes every morning or every night while avoiding contact with the eye. This is easy to accomplish as literally one drop of the clear liquid is used and applied with a sterile, small brush just like you would apply eyeliner.
Another question that we receive is does it cause discoloration of the eye? By using only a small amount of product, on the supplied applicator, discoloration or pigmentation of light-colored eyes is prevented. We have treated hundreds of patients who have light-colored eyes with Latisse and have not seen any cases of discoloration. After the initial eight week period, you can change the amount and frequency of application and this further diminishes the risk.
Latisse is a product that can only be dispensed by MD’s and, as such, requires a prescription and a doctor’s visit to evaluate if the patient is a candidate or has any contraindications. During that visit, I am happy to answer any questions regarding the product and potential side effects.
Latisse has been a great addition for women who want to improve the appearance of their eyes safely, easily, and non-surgically. Of course, we also routinely recommend it to our patients who have had eyelid surgery to enhance their eyes even further.
